SmugMug > keywords > festival > My Menorah on the 8th day of Hanukkah. As it turns out the story of Chanukah (I give both spellings of the holiday) is somewhat of a fib. There never was a miracle of the oil lasting 8 nights when it should have only lasted 1. Instead, Hanukkah is actually a celebration of "rescuing" The Temple from the mean Greek's that had taken it over. Well, it wasn't really completely "taken over," but rather the Greeks installed High Pirests that were serviant to them. Instead, Judah the Macabee decided to return the Temple to the rightful priests. Yay!
